EIR Update

I made it to the painting desk tonight for the first time in over two weeks, and realised I had some almost completed 10mm Early Imperial Romans there - so time for some pictures!

Three more scorpions and their crews

Two more of these still to do

All three Testudo stands completed

I really do like the look of these - perhaps I "need" a couple more?!

Just to prove I did not "cheat" - some WIP images!

Last but certainly not least tonight - the start of more Auxilia infantry

Hope you liked these - more to come soon, hopefully!

  1. Splendid stuff. Yes you need more Testudo’s. “Some” is never enough. Very impressed you fully painted all the guys beneath the shields too.

    1. Thank you, Norm. Perhaps I need a "progress so far" parade soon?

  3. Keith i just noticed the painting style you used for the Scutum and I think it has a nice effect. It really makes the detail stand out. If I could do it all over again, I'd go 10mm for my ancients.

  7. A great mix of units there Keith, with superb detail right across the board. 3D printing really has come on leaps and bounds compared to 5 years ago when I left the 'business'!

    1. Thanks Steve. Yes, we have mentioned it previously, but the detail on these Cromarty Forge miniatures are superb....almost too good in this scale, for my painting skills!

  9. Some amazing looks on such a small scale . Yes to more testudo , although the ones completed are awesome themselves. You can/should parade them around anytime! Now that you are back to the painting table, your angst level can be reduced.

    1. Thanks Joe! The testudo seems to be a crowd favourite and now I have motivated myself to get back to the painting desk, hopefully we will see an upturn in production, and posting on the blog.

    1. Cheers Lawrence...and yes, it was! I got home early (4pm ish) had VERY early dinner around five then hit the paint desk and got the auxiliaries finished off and the next batch under coated, plus a few repairs in my Valkyries that had been sitting waiting since the game at Andrew's a couple of weeks ago!

  11. Great stuff Keith. I know they're good models, but you've painted them so well.
Also I agree with Mark/JBM. Do more and have a really epic array of legionaries in testudos! Think Hollywood c 1960!

    1. Thanks Chris! I totally understand the desire for a table full of testudos....but I have so many other things to do too!

  12. The 10mm miniatures look very nice and the army came together quite quickly over 2-3 months?

    1. Thanks Peter...probably 9 months or so since I bought the first batch, but there have been quite long gaps between each "installment" of this collection.

  14. Splendid looking tortoises and auxilia, still to do any painting, it's over a month now, done a bit of plastic assembly but that's about it!

    1. It certainly made it easier to get back into the swing of things Stew...and as you know, unlike your good self, I normally enjoy the painting aspect!
